Liza Noriega

Color Guard Director

Liza Noriega was born and raised in New York.  She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Education from Arizona State University and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University.  Liza currently teaches dance at DMHS. She has been a choreographer of dance and Color Guard since 1982, earning many awards for her work, including the 1997 "Artist of Promise" award. Most recently she choreographed for the award winning Inaugural Season for "The Academy" Division II Drum and Bugle Corps during the summer of 2004.   She is a recognized adjudicator for various dance and Color Guard events.  Mrs. Noriega is married and has three beautiful children. 

Bryan Hummel 

DMHS Band & Orchestra Director

Bryan Hummel is a percussionist, educator, composer, and arranger. He received a Bachelor’s of Music Education as well as a Bachelors of Arts in Percussion Performance from Drake University in Des Moines, IA in 2014. As an educator, Hummel has worked with many programs from k-12 education all the way to collegiate and professional ensembles which have provided him with a wide variety of experiences in jazz, orchestra, wind band, world music ensembles, in addition to classical/marching percussion.  Most recently, Mr. Hummel instructed front ensembles at Arizona State University and Breakthrough Indoor Percussion Ensemble (PIW) and as a regular clinician for schools in the Phoenix area for marching and classical percussion. He instructed percussion sections for a number of area high schools and was the caption head for Desert Mountain High School (2016-2018).
As an arranger Mr. Hummel has arranged music for many high schools and colleges around the country and composed many drumline programs. As a classical composer, Hummel written for small ensembles.
